🚀 Boost Your Marketing Career with a Mentor + Hot News and Stories
Good Morning Z Marketers and Happy Monday! 🧠
I hope you’re doing well. I had a bit of a tough weekend, filled with thoughts about my content and journey. Lately, I've been feeling overwhelmed trying to balance building my personal brand and developing this passion project, and over the past two weeks, I've been creating content that wasn't really centered on the newsletter.
This weekend, I decided to shift my focus solely on the growth of the newsletter. There are numerous growth tactics I'm yet to explore, and content creation, while important, takes time to yield results. Therefore, this week's primary goal is to delve into these strategies and pave the way for the newsletter's future growth. Rest assured, I'll return to content creation to drive traffic here once ive established a solid growth plan and reached 1,000 subs.
Enough about me! Let's dive into today’s issue. Here’s what to expect:

Finding a Mentor to Level Up Your Marketing Career 🚀
What is a Mentor?
A mentor guides you, shares their experiences, and helps you grow in your career. They provide advice, support, and insights to help you navigate the marketing world.
Where to Find One?
In Your Network: Look for experienced professionals you already know.
Networking Events: Attend industry events and meetups.
Industry Associations: Join marketing associations like the American Marketing Association (AMA) or the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). They often have mentorship programs.
Mentorship Programs: Check out formal programs offered by universities, professional organizations, or companies.
Online Platforms: Websites like MentorCruise, Score, and The Mentor Method also specialize in connecting you with mentors.
Referrals: Ask your contacts to introduce you to potential mentors.
At Your Company: Request a mentor matching program or find someone within your organization.
Cold Outreach: Reach out directly to marketers you admire via email or LinkedIn.
How to Know It’s a Good Match?
Know Your Goals: Be clear about what you want from the mentorship.
Define Needed Experience: Identify the expertise your mentor should have.
Test the Waters: Start with a coffee chat to see if you click.
How to Ask Someone to Be Your Mentor?
Be straightforward and respectful. Explain why you admire them, what you hope to learn, and how often you’d like to meet.
How to Get the Most Out of Your Sessions?
Set Regular Meetings: Schedule consistent times to connect.
Come Prepared: Have questions or topics ready that align with your mentor’s expertise.
Be Open and Engaged: Actively listen and apply what you learn.
It's just Zuck being in a casual CEO move…
